It is always a difficult moment to find that your partner is cheating on you, but Betsy Ayala had it bad. Not only did she find out that her husband was cheating on her a few months after she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, but he was also making fun of her with her mistress about her weight.
In this kind of a situation, many people would just burn the whole house down and take their kids and go far away. However, Betsy used this to motivate herself and is in some way thankful that this happened in her life.
In 2013, Betsy who lives in Houston, Texas, gave birth to Isabella, her daughter, and at that time weighed about 265 pounds.
Once she found the messages that her now-ex-husband wrote about her with his mistress, she was trying to get back in shape.
“I started in September and was doing okay until two days after Christmas when I found out my husband was cheating on me with a co-worker,” Betsy told Honey.
“I had been with him since I was 17 and pretty much devoted my life to our relationship and him. I was. I found out through some messages I read on his Facebook where they were calling me a cow and fat and just trashing me and my whole world fell apart,” she added.
Heartbroken, the 34-year-old mom had more to add:
“I didn’t know what to do with myself at the time. I was still over 220 pound with a 6-month-old and everything that I had worked for had just vanished,” Betsy said.
However, Betsy was not going to be discouraged that easily. She cut out snacks and sweets and started to work out with her sister. They went to Zumba together, and later Betsy started to go to the gym.
In a couple of years, Betsy lost 103 pounds and joined Herbalife and became a wellness coach in order to motivate other people to lose weight. Even though at the beginning it brought her only misery, she is now grateful for the whole heartbreaking experience.
“Now I honestly feel that what he did was a blessing because otherwise, I would have been the way I was forever. I prayed all the time for my life to change and my prayers were answered, just maybe not in the way I envisioned, but I got a second at a fresh start and I’m grateful for that,” she said.
Even though Betsy is thankful for her ex-husband for motivating her to start losing weight, she eventually altered the attitude she had about getting fit
“I would cry after every workout and it was then that I decided that this would not define me and I was going to change for me and for my daughter. I wanted her to be proud of her mom and I wanted to be an example for her,” Betsy said.
Even though she did not have it as a child, she hopes to give their children the knowledge and motivation, as well as her love of working out so they can be fit their entire life.
“I was always the chubby kid, I never played sports or wanted to take in physical activity because I was overweight. I did get in school and got picked on. I think for me, eating was like self-medication,” she added.
Despite all of the hardships that she had to experience in the past, the present is looking pretty good for Betsy. She has over 70,000 Instagram followers and is being publicly speaking on television with a recent interview by Steve Harvey.
“I’m a completely different person both on the inside and outside because of my outlook on everything. I was always very negative and had a chip on my shoulder because I was unhappy with me. I’m happier, I’m confident and most of all I’m positive,” Betsy said.
